Hamilton, Montana (April 21, 2015) – Warmer temperatures today and Wednesday will allow Bitterroot National Forest fire managers to continue their 2015 prescribed fire program. This morning, fire crews will be conducting a prescribed burn, weather permitting, east of Stevensville. The burn is located in the Sapphire Mountains, south of Ambrose Saddle. The 60-acre understory burn is scheduled to begin around 11:00am. Smoke will likely be visible from Stevensville and Highway 93. Today’s burn is one of one of three prescribed fire projects planned on the Stevensville and Darby Ranger Districts this spring totaling approximately 1,000 acres.
